Celebrations in honor of fathers, father-figures, and fatherhood happen all around the world at different times of the year. In the United States, we set aside the third Sunday of each June to spend a day appreciating, loving, and pampering our dads.
The holiday began as a local observance in Fairmont, West Virginia in 1908, just two months after the first Mother’s Day was celebrated in a nearby town. Two years later, the citizens of Spokane, Washington embraced the new tradition by holding a celebration of their own to recognize all fathers.
Soon after, Father’s Day celebrations arose across the United States. It was not until 1966, however, that the holiday would receive any official recognition from the United States government, when Lyndon B. Johnson issued a presidential proclamation urging everyone to participate. In 1972, President Richard Nixon officially recognized Father’s Day as a federal holiday.
Families everywhere now celebrate Father’s Day with family meals, activities, and by giving their fathers thoughtful gifts including ties, tools, golf tees, flowers, trinkets, and gift baskets – any item that speaks personally to our dads. For a golfer with a sweet tooth, our Hole-In-One edible arrangement will satisfy your father’s sugar cravings on the course.
Beautifully potted exotic plants like orchids and succulents will warm up a working father’s office and remind him of you for years to come. Easy to care for, our Cabernet Orchid garden features an arrangement of plants in an artfully designed wine box any self-assured sommelier will adore.
In addition to pleasing, wine aficionados and dads who like to hit the green, we also have the sports-loving fan-dad covered with our BOOM! floral arrangement featuring Seattle Seahawks colors and embellishments.
